Last Year is a multiplayer asymmetric horror game, where a group of survivors fight a big bad baddie. The first game was Last Year: The Nightmare, set in 1996. The game was time-exclusive on Discord for ninety days. Afterdark is a continuation in the form of a free expansion and will be releasing on Steam in December.

Last Year: Afterdark is the unveiling of a brand new playable Fiend: The Spider. This latest expansion is set in a gritty, savage world that’s been overrun by a menacing creature infestation. The infestation introduces PVE to Last Year’s asymmetric formula, and delivers a deeper, more brutal survival layer for both Fiends and Classmates.

In this update, East Side High School has been redesigned and re-imagined. Players will enter the world on their own terms thanks to another brand new feature: Maining. Players can now play as any Fiend or Classmate 100% of the time, as the original character selection system has been completely overhauled from the ground up.

Last Year: Afterdark also introduces a brand new progression and customization system. Fiends and Classmates are rewarded for good deeds with unlockable cosmetics, emotes, and arcane abilities.

Which Classmate will you pick? Choose from 6 Classmates, and assign them a Class to get special skills. The more you work well with your Classmates, the better your chances of survival. And the more you survive, the more Arcane Secrets you learn, unlocking powerful magical abilities to take the fight to the Fiends.

Supernatural entities living in The Nightmare, the dreadful Fiends take the form of quintessential horror archetypes, and each have unique powers, weapons and play-styles. Decide whether to attack the Classmates head-on, or meticulously plan your attacks by setting up traps, preparing ambushes, and toying with your prey.

Free content updates in the form of Chapters will bring new, terrifying Fiends and ever-more-dreadful areas inspired by different genres of horror, and more, changing up the gameplay and making Last Year the ultimate multiplayer horror experience.
