Last week, we shared a video from Uncle Burrito, showcasing a WIP version of Need for Speed: Underground 2 with RTX Remix Path Tracing. And yesterday, the YouTuber shared a new video, showcasing a brand new version of this mod.
In this new version, Uncle Burrito increased the volumetric lighting, and marked many other textures appropriately for proper usage with RTX Remix. The modder has also replaced all of the asphalt textures with new custom materials, as well as multiple pavement textures. Not only that, but they replaced many other driveable surfaces with PBR materials.
What’s also cool here is that the modder has minimized the light changes that can occur near the camera. As the modder noted, the game uses very aggressive culling to hide all models and lights outside of the camera view. Thus, it may be impossible right now to fully fix this with RTX Remix Runtime. My guess is that this will be possible with the RTX Remix Creator Tool.
Anyway, this video looks absolutely amazing, so go ahead and take a look at it!

While he is a die-hard PC gamer, his gaming roots can be found on consoles. John loved – and still does – the 16-bit consoles, and considers SNES to be one of the best consoles. Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2.
