Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is the upcoming first-person shooter by Infinity Ward and published by Activision. This is a soft reboot of the original game back in 2007. It will take place in a realistic and modern setting and for the first time in the series, the game will support cross-platform multiplayer. There will be no season pass and all post-launch content will be free for all players.
For the first time ever I am a bit excited. I was never into the COD multiplayer but I usually enjoy the single player campaign. The original game was quite good and many will probably say it is the best in the series. As such, I’m hoping this game will surpass the original and more games will adapt the realistic element.
The game’s Ground War multiplayer mode will support 64 players. However, Infinity Ward is currently experimenting with other modes featuring a higher amount of players. Unfortunately, it’s not been confirmed yet whether this 64+ or 100+ modes will be available in the final game.
So far, we have only seen a trailer and nothing else regarding the single-player campaign. So until we actually see in-game footage, I will suggest we all keep our expectations checked. We really need a good single-player realistic shooter, so fingers crossed!
I have highlighted most of the important stuff from the video interview below:
- Whole new story line based on contemporary military
- Spec-ops mode (four player co-op) will be a continuation of the campaign
- Split screen support
- Realistic weapon ballistics
- Available only on Battlenet
- Microtransactions
- Game length similar to the original
- New game engine
- No zombies
You can check the whole interview below, which as usual is quite funny. Enjoy!
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will release on October 25th.
