Pikmin 4 PC feature

Pikmin 4 can run with 60fps on PC via Nintendo Switch emulators

Nintendo has just released Pikmin 4 on Nintendo Switch and as you may have guessed, PC gamers can already enjoy the game with 60fps.

By default, the game is locked at 30fps on Nintendo Switch. However, there is already a 60fps mod for the PC, allowing PC gamers to experience Pikmin 4 with higher framerates. And, from the looks of it, the latest version of Yuzu can already provide a smooth gaming experience.

Below you can find a video from reznoire, showcasing the game running with 60fps. In order to capture this gameplay footage, reznoire used an Intel Core i9-12900k with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080. And, presumably at 1440p, the RTX 3080 had no trouble at all pushing 60fps.

Pikmin 4 is one of those Nintendo Switch games with an incredible art style. Thus, the game can greatly benefit by running at resolutions higher than 1080p. Also, in theory, an RTX 4090 should be able to provide a 4K/60fps experience. Yes yes, an RTX 4090 may sound like an overkill for a game looking like this. However, this isn’t a native PC game, meaning that the CPU and GPU requirements are way higher. Not only that, but we expect newer versions of the emulator to improve overall performance.

Speaking of unlocked framerates, PC gamers can also enjoy Metroid Prime, Metroid Dread and Luigiā€™s Mansion 3 at 120fps. Yuzu can also run the latest Zelda game, Tears of the Kingdom, with 60fps. Not only that, but Bayonetta 3 is also playable at 4K/60fps on PC.

All in all, Yuzu can once again provide a better gaming experience on PC than what Nintendo currently does with its official console. Rumor has it that the big N may reveal the successor to the Switch in 2024. So, until that happens, PC gamers will be able to get a better experience on their own PC systems than their console brothers.

Enjoy the video and stay tuned for more!
