SEGA and Amplitude Studios have released the second developer video for Humankind. Humankind is a new turn-based historical strategy game that targets a 2020 release window on the PC. This new dev video focuses on the game’s Terrain.
In Humankind, players can expect to find rolling hills, barren flatlands, snowy, impassible mountains. As the developers noted, these landscapes are a pillar of Humankind’s gameplay.
Thus, moving through a valley will block your line of sight. Moreover, attacking from higher ground will confer an advantage. Settling in different biomes will also give access to different strategic and luxury resources.
In Humankind, players will face historical events, lead renowned figures of humankind, and make scientific breakthroughs. Players will also discover the natural wonders of the world or build the most remarkable creations of humankind.

While he is a die-hard PC gamer, his gaming roots can be found on consoles. John loved – and still does – the 16-bit consoles, and considers SNES to be one of the best consoles. Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2. John has also written a higher degree thesis on the “The Evolution of PC graphics cards.”
