Silent Hill 2 Remake official screenshots-1

Silent Hill 2 Remake vs Original Early Graphics Comparison

A few days ago, Konami released a new gameplay trailer for Silent Hill 2 Remake. So, here’s today an early graphics comparison video between the original version and the upcoming remake. This video will give you a glimpse at what Bloober Team has achieved.

In this comparison, YouTube’s ‘Cycu1’ used identical scenes. As you will see, the remake has the same cut-scenes and puzzles. However, it uses different camera angles for some of them.

Now I’ve seen some complaints about the game’s combat mechanics. And, when compared to the original version, the remake feels and plays better. Okay okay, we’re comparing a modern-day game with a PS2 title. Still, it doesn’t look THAT bad to me.

A lot of people also complained about the fact that the trailer is focused on the game’s combat. And, as this comparison shows, the original also had a lot of combat sequences. So, I don’t really get the complaints. It’s not like the remake will be all about combat. So, let’s not judge a game based on a trailer. Let’s wait to get it on our hands and play it first.

I’ve also seen reports that this latest trailer features gameplay from Silent Hill 2 Remake’s March 2023 build. These reports have not been confirmed as of yet. So, take them with a grain of salt.

Silent Hill 2 Remake will be using Unreal Engine 5. Its initial trailer also showcased some truly amazing visuals. Thus, it will be interesting to see whether Bloober Team will be able to match them. Back in October, the team also shared the initial PC system requirements for it. According to them, an NVIDIA RTX2080 would be able to run it at 1080p/High/30fps. Now we all know how demanding Unreal Engine 5 can be. So, it will be interesting to see whether Bloober Team will revise those PC requirements.

In June 2023, the voice actor of the main protagonist claimed that Silent Hill 2 Remake was planned for an early 2024 release. However, Konami did not reveal any release date in the following trailer. So, chances are we may wait until 2025.

Enjoy and stay tuned for more!
