YouTube’s ‘Cycu1’ has shared a new video comparison between the original version and the upcoming remake of Silent Hill 2. This video will give you an idea of how close to the original material the remake will be. So, go ahead and take a look at it.
As you may know, Silent Hill 2 used fixed camera angles. On the other hand, the upcoming remake will use a third-person perspective. So, to get identical scenes from both games, the YouTuber used a TPP Mod for SH2. This is identical to the ones we’ve shared for Silent Hill 3 and Silent Hill 4.
Bloober Team has managed to stay faithful to the original version. The team has recreated all of the game’s locations. Not only that but it has kept the game’s iconic fog. Everything feels like the SH2 you loved. So, don’t expect this to be a re-imagination of SH2 like the RE remakes were. This appears to be a 1-to-1 remake.
Some gamers have also complained about the “rough” combat mechanics of the remake. Again, though, the remake has similar combat mechanics to the original. Enhancing those mechanics may completely change the way players experience it. After all, Silent Hill 2 was never an action game. Basically, this is a lose-lose situation for Bloober Team. If they change the combat, the die-hard SH2 fans will accuse them of changing the game. If not, people will criticize them for not updating it.
To be honest, I’m completely fine with this. For years, a lot of players have been asking for 1:1 remakes of the classic games. And now we get one (or should I say two as Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater also appears to be a 1:1 remake). It’s ironic but of all the companies, Konami is the one that offers what die-hard fans have been asking for.
Silent Hill 2 Remake will be using Unreal Engine 5. In October 2022, Bloober Team shared its initial PC system requirements. According to them, an NVIDIA RTX2080 would be able to run it at 1080p/High/30fps. Since those PC specs were posted two years ago, I’m curious to see whether Konami will update them. For the time being, Steam still lists the same PC requirements.
Konami will release Silent Hill 2 Remake on October 8th.
Enjoy and stay tuned for more!
