YouTube’s ‘Big Boy’ is currently working on an RTX Remix Mod for Need For Speed Most Wanted, aiming to add Path Tracing effects to it. And although there is no ETA on when it will come out, the modder shared a new WIP gameplay video.
In this video, Big Boy showcases the game’s new lighting system. The modder needs to fine-tune the colors but he claims that it’s close to final.
Now as you’ll see, the biggest issue right now is the low-quality textures. Need For Speed Most Wanted came out in 2005 and has really blurry textures (by today’s standards). So here is hoping thatĀ Big Boy will use an AI tool in order to overhaul them. Furthermore, the modder plans to implement displacement maps (as the latest version of RTX Remix has added support for them).
For our NFS fans, there is also an RTX Remix Mod for Need For Speed: Underground 2 in development. Similar to this one, though, there is no ETA on when it will be released. From what we know, the RTX Remix for Underground 2 is in a more advanced stage than the one for Most Wanted.
It will be interesting to see whether these two mods will come out before or after the release of theĀ RTX Remix Creator Tool. Naturally, though, we’ll be sure to keep you posted.
Enjoy!
