YouTube’s ‘skurtyyskirts’ has been working on an RTX Remix Mod for Star Wars: Battlefront 2 (2005), and shared a new video for it. As with most of the RTX Remix Mods, this one is also in a really very early stage. Still, it’s something that may interest our old-school Battlefront fans.
By using RTX Remix, the modder was able to implement Full Ray Tracing/Path Tracing effects to this classic Battlefront game. Moreover, skurtyyskirts used PBRify to upgrade the game’s assets. PBRify can generate PBR maps. As such, it’s a must for games that will be using RTX Remix.
As said, this mod is still in an early development stage. For instance, the armors of the Droideka are not properly shaded. Some other effects also look flat, without proper shading. Not only that but the original assets have not been upgraded. Yes, there are new normal and roughness maps, but a lot of the textures are still low-res.
From what we know, skurtyyskirts hasn’t shared this mod to the public yet. We also don’t know when – and if – it will come out. Naturally, though, we’ll be sure to keep you posted.
These past few months we’ve been covering a lot of RTX Remix Mods. In January 2023, we shared several RTX Remix Mods that are in the works. As such, you can take a look at screenshots and videos for Tomb Raider, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, Manhunt, and Garfield Kart RTX Remix. Last month, we also shared videos for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas RTX Remix, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, Unreal, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 4 and Midnight Club 2. Earlier this month, we also shared the first screenshots from the RTX Remix Mod for Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines, as well as videos for Fallout: New Vegas RTX and Half-Life RTX.
Speaking of Path Tracing Mods for older titles, you might also want to check out the following ones. Modders have released early demos for their Path Tracing Mods for Deus Ex, Tomb Raider, Max Payne and Call of Duty 4. Do note that the COD4 Mod is a “proof of concept” demo, and it does not look that great. On the other hand, the RTX Remix Mod for Max Payne looks amazing (at least in my opinion). Let’s also not forget the RTX Remix for COD: WoW. And then we have the RTX Remix Mods for the first and the second NFS: Underground games. Oh, and don’t forget to give a go at this RTX Remix for Unreal Tournament 2004. Finally, you can download Path Tracing Mods for Doom 2, Quake, and Serious Sam.
Enjoy and stay tuned for more!
