Last week, several amazing fan-made videos were shared, showing remakes of popular video games in UE5. Thus, I’ve gathered them all here for you to enjoy in one big article. So, below, you’ll find fan remake videos of Metal Gear Solid 3, Super Mario Galaxy, Sonic Adventure, and Shrek 2 – The Game, all recreated using Unreal Engine 5.
The Metal Gear Solid 3 Fan Remake recreates the cut-scene in which you first meet The Pain. It looks cool, though a bit rough. While the 3D model for The Pain looks great, the one for Snake is not that good. Perhaps I’m spoiled by what Konami has showcased. Either way, this 3D model cannot come close to what Snake will look like in the official remake. The animations could also benefit from some additional love. Still, for a one-man project, this fan remake looks cool. And, in a really weird way, it can feel like a beta version of the official remake.
The next fan remake is the one for Sonic Adventure. Sonic Adventure originally came out on the SEGA Dreamcast in 1998. This recreation showcases Super Sonic fighting Perfect Chaos. This is the final boss battle in the game. And, as you will see, it looks miles better (graphically) than its original DC version. Okay okay, this is to be expected. Still, you should keep in mind that this was created by an individual, and not by a whole team. So, kudos to the artist.
The next one is this short but sweet remake of Super Mario Galaxy. This video shows Mario walking on a Yoshi planet in space. This will immediately remind you of the original Super Mario Galaxy game. It looks cool, and I’m certain that a lot of Mario fans will appreciate it. Let’s now hope that the next-gen Mario game for Nintendo Switch 2 will come close to these visuals.
Finally, we have the fan remake of Shrek 2 – The Game in UE5. This appears to be more polished than the rest of the videos. Created by Kaboms in the span of 8 months, this video showcases what an actual remake of this game could look like in Unreal Engine 5. Similarly to the Rayman 3 UE5 Remake, it has proper gameplay mechanics. So, make sure to give it a go.
Speaking of Unreal Engine 5, you should also check out the following fan projects. For instance, you can find some faithful remasters of Dark Souls and Dark Souls 3, which are super cool. A few days ago, we also shared an amazing remake of Toy Story 2. Then there’s this fantastic fan remake of STALKER that’s worth a look. Then there’s this fantastic fan remake of STALKER that’s worth a look. Oh, and don’t miss the Grand Theft Auto 6 fan concept in UE5; it’s pretty impressive. Earlier this month, we also shared fan remakes of Grand Theft Auto San Andreas and GTA 3, as well as an Uncharted fan game. We also have a fan remaster of Unreal Gold in UE5. You should also watch the full-on remake video for Final Fantasy 9.
Need for Speed Carbon and Tony Hawk’s Underground have also received some cool remakes. And if that’s not enough, there are fan remakes for Star Wars: Republic Commando, Death Stranding, Fallout 4, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim’s Solitude, Grand Theft Auto 4, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, Fallout 4, Resident Evil 1, Skyrim’s Winterhold and Silent Hill 3’s Lakeside Amusement Park. There is also this Studio Ghibli stylized teaser for Zelda: Ocarina of Time in Unreal Engine 5. So, lots of UE5 fan remakes, right? Well, since they’re all really cool, we suggest giving them a watch.
Enjoy and stay tuned for more!
