Lionsgate has just released the first trailer for the upcoming Borderlands movie. And, to be honest, I was really disappointed by it. While the movie appears to have some big actors and actresses, it looks as generic and boring as it can get.
First things first. Lionsgate has miscast pretty much everyone. Don’t get me wrong. Cate Blanchett and Jamie Lee Curtis are incredible actresses. However, they look nothing like Lilith or Patricia Tannis. And look. I like Ariana Greenblatt. But, she doesn’t look anything like Tiny Tina. Fun fact. When I first saw her I was like “Okay, what character is this?”
Then we have the awful writing and humor scenes. I’ve played Borderlands and I enjoyed most of the games. However, the “pisswash” scene made me cringe. The jokes in the trailer were those you’d expect to see 10 years ago. They feel old, dated, and – to be honest – they are not that funny. This feels so formulaic. In a way, it feels like a bad reskinned Marvel movie. And no, that’s not a good thing in my opinion.
The entire trailer felt so boring and generic. It was like I’ve seen this movie with a different cast. And let’s be real here. Did this make you go “Okay, this looks interesting. I’ll go to watch it at the cinema?” Because it didn’t for me. Sure thing, I might watch it when it hits streaming services. But that’s it.
Anyway, if you haven’t watched it yet, you can do so below. And now tell me that this got you excited!
