Skyrim Morthal in Unreal Engine 5

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim’s Morthal looks mind-blowing in Unreal Engine 5.4 with Lumen and Nanite

YouTube’s ‘Leo Torres’ has shared a video, showcasing a real-life scale remake of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim’s Morthal in Unreal Engine 5.4. This video will give you a glimpse at what a modern-day remake of Skyrim could look like. So, let’s take a look at it.

For those who don’t know, “The Real Scale” Skyrim series is a project to show what Tamriel’s cities would look like if they were more realistic and true to the game’s lore. Torres has also recreated MarkarthBlackreachWhiterunSolitude, Winterhold, and Falkreath. They all look amazing. Therefore, be sure to check them out.

To remake Morthal, the artist used a mix of different models and custom-made parts. Torres made these custom parts using Blender and added textures with Mixer. The artist also used Nanite for all the models and plants, and Lumen for lighting and reflections.

Torres has rendered out the scene in Unreal Engine 5.4 on an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090. And, as you will see, the results are incredible. This is by far the best “fan” remake of Skyrim.

I also wonder whether The Elder Scrolls 6 will be able to match these visuals. TES6 will be using an upgraded version of the Creation Engine 2. And, as we saw in Starfield, it’s nowhere close to what we see here.

Lastly, Torres doesn’t plan to share these UE5 fan remakes with the public. He’s making them for his portfolio and to create cool fan videos about the Elder Scrolls story. Still, it would be interesting to see if an RTX 4090 graphics card could run these in real-time.

Speaking of Unreal Engine 5, you should also check out the following fan projects. For instance, you can find some faithful remasters of Dark Souls and Dark Souls 3, which are super cool.
