The Last Guardian is a PS4 exclusive that came out in December 2016. This is a game that Sony won’t ever port to the PC. However, PC gamers may soon be able to enjoy it via the PS4 emulator, shadPS4. Because, right now, the emulator can boot and run it.
Now while shadPS4 can run it, it’s not really playable. As you will see, there are A LOT of visual glitches. Not only that but performance is all over the place. Still, the fact that shadPS4 can boot and run it is commendable.
The Last Guardian is a niche title. So, I don’t expect the shadPS4 team to focus its efforts on making it playable in record time (as they did with Bloodborne). Realistically speaking, we might be able to enjoy The Last Guardian on PC at 4K with 60FPS by the end of 2025.
This is the second PS4 game I’d like to see running on the shadPS4. So, I’m kind of excited to see how the game will look and run in future versions of shadPS4.
Speaking of shadPS4, it appears that the PS4 emulator can also boot and run God of War 3 Remastered (or at least its first cutscene). Performance seems fine, however, there are MAJOR visual issues. So, no. The game is nowhere close to being described as playable.
shadPS4 can also run other 3D games, like Sword Art Online, Five Nights at Freddy’s, and Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA X. The emulator can also run Alien Isolation, Wipeout XL and Marvel Ultimate Alliance.
It’s incredible to see all these PS4 games running on shadPS4. A year ago, I didn’t believe we’d get a PS4 emulator that could run as many games. So, kudos to the shadPS4 team for their incredible work.
Enjoy and stay tuned for more!
