Bitplex has released an incredible video, showing ten beloved 16-bit games re-imagined as 3D retro games. And let me tell you that this is the coolest and most retro video you’ll see this weekend.
The games that Bitplex recreated were: MegaMan X, Yoshi’s Island, Streets of Rage 2, Sonic 3, Donkey Kong Country, Killer Instinct, Aladdin, Ecco The Dolphin, Super Metroid and Chrono Trigger. And to be honest, I’d really love to see such 3D retro remakes of these games.
In case you’re wondering how Bitplex achieved something like that, he used sprites and screenshots of the aforementioned games to extrude various components and create a true 3D environment from a static image.
Last month, we’ve also shared Bitplex’s recreation of Mortal Kombat 2. And since I’m a huge fan of MK2, I’ve also included that video below.
Enjoy!

Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2.
